6 layer construction. Rail and stile Douglas Fir frame, with BOLT THROUGH fabrication. 14 gauge heavy duty hinges, 2” or 3” struts 20 gauge support straps for added strength. This application allows for unlimited design options and a door that is built to last a lifetime.
Wood Species
Western red select tight knot cedar, Clear all heart cedar, Douglas Fir, Redwood, Mahogany, Spanish Cedar, Cypress, Okume, Ipe, Others.
Insulation*
Polystyrene insulation built into the frame with a Mahogany luan backing allows for an R-value of 20+. *Optional

The chevron pattern requires 20 – 30% more material because of the diagonal cuts required to complete the pattern. This extra material increases the costs of building the door.
Select tight knot (STK) cedar is the most popular because of its affordability and resistance to weathering. This type of cedar has knots throughout that will show up with a transparent stain but can be hidden with paint or a dark stain.
It depends on your personal preference. Staining the cedar garage doors will do the trick if you want a rustic garage door look. However, painted cedar or Douglas fir garage doors provide more design flexibility.
